A 24-year-old tricyclist, Simon Offum, who allegedly stole a tricycle valued N1.2 million parked at Maroko Police Station, was yesterday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, in Lagos.
Offum, a resident of Golden Pearls Estate, Sangotedo, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and breach of the peace.
It was alleged that the defendant committed the offences on March 30, at 11.30a.m. at Maroko Police Station, on Akiogun Road, Lekki, Lagos. The defendant entered Maroko Police Station and stole a parked tricycle marked GGE 425 QF, valued at N1.2 million, belonging to one L. L. Plus Ltd company.
The defendant who had no legal representative pleaded not guilty to charge preferred against him.
The Magistrate, Mrs M. O. Ope-Agbe, granted him N900,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
She ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed, must swear to an affidavit of means and show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government, and adjourned the case to April 23 for trial.
