EKO HOT BLOG reports that former Manchester United transfer target Adrien Rabiot has broken his silence on penning a new deal with Juventus.
The midfielder’s contract with the Serie A side expires at the end of the season.
With Erik ten Hag desperate to strengthen his midfield over the summer, it soon emerged that Rabiot was a serious consideration at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman was on the fringes of the Juve first team and United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong appeared to have hit a dead end.
But despite a deal looking plausible, the plug was pulled on the move – with fears over how Rabiot and his entourage would affect the Red Devils’ rebuild.
The 27-year-old has since made five league appearances for Juve so far this season as Massimiliano Allegri looks to find a winning formula following his side’s torrid start to the campaign.
Quizzed by Corriere dello Sport about his future following United’s pursuit over the summer, Rabiot said: “There was a lot of talks, but I’ve always been focused both in training and in the game. The renewal? I don’t know.
At the moment, there are other things to think about. I’m focused on the pitch and doing well for the team, to get them out of the difficult, and then we’ll see what happens.
“Honestly, I’m not even thinking about the World Cup. I think it’s the same thing for the others too, we need to stay focused on the club.”
United opted to sign Casemiro late in the transfer window rather than Rabiot, and the Brazilian is slowly starting to make his mark in Ten Hag’s side after being given time to adjust to life in the Premier League.
