All eyes will be on Etihad Stadium when Manchester City and Chelsea face each other in the Premier League derby. A win over Chelsea will see Man City move one step closer to defending their title, but the Citizens should be happy with one point from the match as well. Winger Riyad Mahrez is on international duty with Algeria, meaning that Raheem Sterling is likely to keep his place in the starting XI. Pep Guardiola has no other selection worries ahead of the Premier League derby.

Both teams are on fine runs in recent matches and in the league standings, 10 points separate them. Manchester City are top with 53 points and Chelsea are second on 43. This is a repeat of the UEFA Champions League final last season and City will be eyeing a double over Chelsea after a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge back in September. City have seven straight wins going to this game and have scored in each of their last 10 matches. In three of City’s last five matches, both teams have scored. They get to this game straight from a 4-1 away win over Swindon Town in the FA Cup and in their last league game, they beat Arsenal 2-1 on New Year’s Day.

Chelsea have beaten Manchester City three times in the last four meetings and going into this game, they’ll want to extend this dominance. They are coming from a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup semi final return leg, that being their third straight win.

These two sides face off on the back of good runs and they have been doing well in attack especially. Facing off, Chelsea will be looking to close the gap on City but City will want to score a big win in getting three points here. The two managers in this battle aren’t known to sit back so we expect an end to end game. Back both teams to score, Manchester City tipped to win by the odd goal.
