Manchester City To Take Protective Measures Against Fan Violence
-
Manchester City set to build protective measures for fans going to the Etihad Stadium for games.
-
This is in response to growing rivalries between its fans and fans of opposition clubs.
-
The protective measures will come in the form of protective netting at the away end of the stadium.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester City Football Club is taking steps to protect its supporters by installing protective netting around the away end at the Etihad Stadium.
This comes after reports of missiles being thrown during recent matches, including the 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on December 22nd.
According to sources, over 50 reports of missiles being thrown from the away end have been recorded. This has prompted the club to take action and ensure the safety of its fans.

Despite an apology from Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan to the father of a child who was injured by a cup of coins thrown from the away end, Manchester City feels it has little choice but to act.
The netting, which is common across Europe but rarely seen in the United Kingdom, will not be a permanent fixture. Instead, it will be installed at the club’s discretion, depending on the risk of trouble from the away end.
The relationship between the two sets of supporters has been strained in recent years, with both sides guilty of misbehavior.
City fans were condemned for their “vile chants” during a Premier League match at Anfield earlier this season, while Liverpool fans were seen throwing missiles at Manchester City’s team bus ahead of a UEFA Champions League tie in 2018.
