Under fire Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has said that it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility for his team to win the Premier League this season.
The Red Devils face cross-town rivals, Manchester City in a blockbuster derby at Old Trafford on Saturday – only days after they were ingloriously knocked out of the Champions League following a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena.
Despite a somewhat rocky start to the domestic season – themed by a 6-1 loss to Spurs and home defeats against Arsenal and Crystal Palace – United can close in on league leaders, Tottenham Hotspurs if they manage to sink Pep Guardiola’s men.
As observed by Eko Hot Blog, United have won their last four Premier League games, with three of those victories coming on the road after going behind, and Solskjaer feels his team are showing signs they could be developing into title contenders.
“At Manchester United, you should always aim to win trophies,” Solskjaer said.
“Of course, with the last three seasons, as they have been, there’s been two teams far ahead of the rest of the pack.
“I got belief during the season, or since the turn of the new year, that this team is improving and that we can put up a challenge.

“Of course we need to improve on last season but I don’t think any team will run away with it.
“I go into every single game wanting to win, so maybe that’s the answer to your question. If you win every game you end up with a trophy.”
Solksjaer, however, does not seem to be in good standing with Manchester United fans, who have recently asked the Norwegian to leave the club after notable tactical flaws in the final two games of the Champions League which saw United eliminated from Europe’s premier club cup competition despite holding all the aces during the early exchanges of the group stage.
