EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has predicted that Manchester City will win the Premier League title this season, while his former club will finish in second place.
Speaking on the Overlap, Neville revealed his prediction, saying:
“That is my inkling earlier in the season, what normally happens is one team gets so close they realise they can’t win it and then they just go like that in the last two or three games. You lose two games and then all of a sudden, someone else goes above you.”
Neville had earlier predicted that Manchester City would win the league and Manchester United would finish second, and he is sticking to that prediction despite Arsenal’s recent good form. “I still think City are going to win the league even though Arsenal, the closer it gets… but 14 games is still a long way to go. I still think United will finish second,” he said.
Manchester United currently sits in second place on the Premier League table with 50 points, six points behind league leaders Manchester City. The Red Devils have won 14 of their 24 league games this season, drawn eight and lost two.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 16 league games, winning 13 of those and drawing three. They have amassed 56 points from 24 games and are currently the favourites to win the title.
Neville’s prediction comes as a blow to Manchester United fans who are hoping to see their team win the Premier League for the first time since the 2012/2013 season. However, with 14 games left to play, anything can happen in the race for the title.
