Obafemi Martins, the experienced Nigerian striker has been duly signed to the Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua after all the processes have been concluded successfully.
The Super Eagles star was unveiled to the media and fans at a ceremony yesterday, which has ended unfounded doubts about his future after training with the club for weeks in a row.
The Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua brought in Martins as a replacement for Odion Ighalo, who is presently on loan to Manchester United until January 2021.
The former Newcastle United, Inter Milan, and Wolfsburg star is returning to Shanghai Shenhua for a second spell, having first worn their colours from 2016-2018.
During his first stint with Shanghai Shenhua, Martins’ performances were pretty commendable, scoring 32 goals in 59 appearances while providing nine assists.
In the ongoing 2020 season, the number of jersey given to the FC Ebedei product is the number 17 which was the same number he wore while he was with Shanghai Shenhua previously.
Other clubs the 35-year-old Martins has played for include Rubin Kazan, Reggiana, Levante, Seattle Sounders and Birmingham City.
