Mass Defection Hit Sokoto As 7,000 PDP Supporters Dump Party For APC

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a boost ahead of the 2023 general elections as no fewer than seven thousand members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) joined its camp yesterday.

The defectors were received into the APC on Thursday by the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Ahmad Aliyu.

Out of the 7,000 defectors, 4,270 are reportedly from the Wurno Local Government Area of the state.

In a press release made available to newsmen this morning, the Special Assistant, New Media, to Senator Aliyu Wamakko, Bashar Abubakar, said the politicians dumped their former camp due to the failure of the PDP government led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

In his remark after receiving the new members, the APC governorship candidate expressed satisfaction with the development, saying it is plausible to the party as the election draws near.

He said there is light at the end of the tunnel for the APC. Aliyu, who represented the APC leader in the state, Senator Wamakko, assured the defectors of equal treatment.

He assured that his administration would continue from the giant strides of the former governor of Sokoto State, Wamakko. He also pledged to reconstruct the Huchi Road, which was damaged by flood, if elected as governor come 2023.

He further described lampooned the PDP administration in the state saying, “the party has failed woefully as none of the promises made was fulfilled to the people of the state.”

Speaking, the APC chairman in the state, Isah Achida, while welcoming the defectors, said the party was always ready to carry all along to ensure its victory at all levels.
