Mateo Kovacic Shines As Man City End Winless Streak Against Fulham

Mateo Kovacic netted a brace as Manchester City battled past a determined Fulham side, securing their first Premier League victory in three matches.

City controlled the opening exchanges, but it was Fulham who struck first. Raul Jimenez delivered a brilliant backheel cross that set up Andreas Pereira for a close-range finish.

Fulham’s Adama Traoré could have doubled the lead, missing two golden opportunities—first denied by Ederson in a one-on-one, and then sending a shot high from inside the box.

Kovacic made sure to punish those missed chances. His first goal came from a half-cleared corner, his shot taking a deflection on its way in. His second, early in the second half, was a much cleaner hit, curling into the net from the edge of the box.

Despite City’s lead, Fulham kept fighting. Traoré again troubled City’s defense, beating Kyle Walker for pace but was thwarted once more by Ederson. City’s defense wavered, conceding several more chances before Jeremy Doku cut in from the left and unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner.

At that moment, it seemed City had sealed the win. However, a lapse in concentration allowed Fulham substitute Rodrigo Muniz to pull one back, reigniting hope for Marco Silva’s side.

Despite the late drama, Fulham couldn’t find an equalizer, and City held on to extend their unbeaten home streak to 50 matches across all competitions, becoming just the fourth English top-flight team to reach such a milestone.
