EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Anglican Communion of Nigeria, specifically the Kutigi Diocese in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State, ahead of May 29 inauguration, has called on President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize tackling the prevalent issues of killings, kidnappings, and other social vices in the country.
During the annual Synod held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Gbangbagi, the Bishop of Kutigi Diocese, Rt Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo, delivered his Bishop charge and emphasized the need for action.
The theme of this year’s Synod was “The Confidence of Faith and Submission.” Bishop Kolo expressed deep concern over the escalating rate of kidnappings for ransom, reckless killings, and the pillaging of villages and towns, particularly in Niger State.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Bishop Kolo called for proactive measures to curb these atrocities, stressing that it is the primary responsibility of the government at all levels to address the root causes of banditry and militia groups in the country. He firmly believed that President-elect Tinubu possessed the necessary qualities to elevate the nation and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
In addition to addressing the security crisis, the cleric also urged the government to tackle other pressing issues. Bishop Kolo criticized the recent increase in petrol pump prices, which has further exacerbated the suffering of the masses. He argued that the recent cashless policy implemented by the government was ill-motivated and detrimental to the economy.

The Anglican Communion’s call for action reflects the growing concerns among Nigerians regarding the state of security in the country.
