Real Madrid’s new signing, Kylian Mbappe, marked his debut with a goal, helping the Spanish giants secure their first European club title of the season.
Earlier today, Real Madrid faced Italian side Atalanta at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland, competing for the 2024 UEFA Super Cup.
Despite pre-match predictions favoring Atalanta, who had previously stunned unbeaten German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen to claim the Europa League title, coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team proved too formidable.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the spotlight was on Mbappe, who joined his dream club on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The 25-year-old French striker shared the stage with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, who had netted a hat-trick to win the Europa League for Atalanta last season.
Mbappe, however, outshone the competition, playing a crucial role in extending the dominance of Champions League winners over Europa League champions in the UEFA Super Cup to 29 victories—a nine-win lead.
After both sides played a goalless draw in the first half, Federico Valverde scored the match opener in the 59th-minute courtesy of Vinicius Junior’s assist. Nine minutes later, Kylian Mbappe took full advantage of Jude Bellingham’s assist to seal a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid.
That won Mbappe his first UEFA Super Cup and kick-started his reign at Real Madrid on a very high note.
