Media professionals have been urged to adhere strictly to the the ethical code of journalism towards promoting fair,balanced and objective news reportage

Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ.Kaduna council Alhaji. Adamu Yusuf made the call during a public lecture on Ethics and Professionalism in journalism practice organized by Kabido Chapel of the Nuj.Kaduna state council

The NUJ chairman in his opening remarks said the lecture followed the need to building the capacity of journalists for them to be objective and balanced in their news reportage

Comrade.Yusuf lamented the increasing rate of fake news and inciting statements in today’s news content pointing out that it was as a result of improper knowledge and skills of journalists

Guess speakers at the lectures mr.Andrew Fadason who is also the former NUJ chairman of Kaduna council and Mr.Tajudeen Tijani in their separate presentations hammered on the importance of professionalism noting that journalism profession is global and compelling hence the need for young professionals to be truthful, accurate and reliable in their content

The speakers admonished journalists to be conscious of their responsibilities as purveyors of information by observing the ethical code of the profession which include public interest, decency and discrimination as well as respect to children and minors to promote a sane society

The ethics and professionalism lectures was attended by members of NUJ cut across different media organizations within the state as goodwill message was given by the chairman,Kabido Chapel of the NUJ,kaduna council Mr.Adamu Marshall
