Medical Expert Insists On Possible Completion Of 2019/20 Football Season
Chief medical officer of UEFA, professor Tim Meyer, has persisted on his idea that players and spectators could return to the stadium without any form of fear if some medical measures are followed.
However, FIFA’s Michel D’Hooghe said that FIFA’s target was to reopen by September because social contact has to be allowed before any plan to return to pitch could be discussed.
The different views from these two medical experts on the issues around a return to play had taken a different view.
Tim Meyer continued on his persistence that players likely to return to the club by June, so all officers of each club should call its players, especially those that had traveled to their home countries, that training may start in May.
“In discussing any return to playing competitive, elite-level football, the health of the players, all those involved in potential games and the public at large is of paramount importance,” he said in a statement.
“All football organizations which are planning the restart of their competitions will produce comprehensive protocols dictating sanitary and operational conditions ensuring that the health of those involved in the games is protected and the integrity of public policy is preserved.
“Under these conditions and in full respect of local legislation, it is definitely possible to plan the restart of competitions suspended during the 2019-20 season.”
