1. Vance is a 39-year-old senator from Ohio, a key swing state in the US.
2. Initially a vocal critic of Trump during the 2016 presidential race, Vance eventually supported Trump, praising his tenure in the White House.
3. Vance grew up in a working-class family with divorced parents. His mother struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, so he was partly raised by his maternal grandparents.
4. He is a former venture capitalist and the author of the bestselling memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy.”
5. Vance enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Iraq War.
6. He graduated from Ohio State University and later earned a law degree from Yale University.
Earlier, Trump was officially nominated as the Republican Party’s presidential candidate for the November election.
