  • For those who do not know, the Niger Delta militancy has been ongoing for decades.
  • Although a large number of fighters have laid down arms and accepted government’s amnesty program, and some refused the offer.

The most feared Militant is Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, a former Commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND).

Between the year 2006 and 2009, the MEND rebel group was under the command of Tompolo, carrying out Kidnappings of oil workers and attacks on oil installations in the creeks of Niger Delta.

Before he accepted the presidential-led amnesty program, during Umaru Musa Yar’adua’s administration. Tompolo was the most feared and dreaded militant alongside Asari Dokubo.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG , Tompolo is currently being chased by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of money laundering and theft.

The 46-year-old militant has denied the charges against him. However, he is currently into hiding. Tompolo’s influence and large followership in Niger Delta makes him one of the most feared Militants.
