Mercy Nnenda Chinwo is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and actress, renowned for her powerful vocals and soul-stirring worship songs. Born on September 5, 1990, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, she rose to fame after winning the second season of Nigerian Idol in 2012.

Early Life and Musical Journey

She began singing in her local church’s children’s choir at just eight years old and later transitioned to the adult choir. The loss of her father at a young age pushed her to take her musical career seriously, as she had to support herself and her siblings.

In 2015, she released her debut single, “Testimony,” followed by “Igwe” in 2016. Her big break came in 2017 when she signed with EeZee Conceptz, a leading gospel music label. She gained widespread recognition with her 2018 hit song “Excess Love,” which became a defining anthem in the gospel music scene.

Acting Career

Beyond music, Mercy Chinwo explored acting. In 2013, she made her film debut in Yvonne Nelson’s movie, House of Gold, starring alongside Majid Michel and Omawumi.
