EKO HOT BLOG reports that the latest celebrity to weigh in on the GOAT debate that has divided football fans around the globe is Canadian rapper and five-time Grammy award-winning artist, Drake.
The debate on who is the greatest footballer of all time (GOAT) between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo has been ongoing for over a decade, and it seems everyone has an opinion on the matter.
During an impromptu video call with YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, Drake was asked to pick between the two football icons, and he replied:
“Ah man, that is a sticky one. For me, probably Ronaldo, to be honest. But I know that is probably not gonna go over well. I know it is Messi’s moment right now, but for me, I have just always been a Ronaldo fan. I am like you.”
Drake’s choice is bound to stir up the Messi-Ronaldo debate once again. Both footballers have been dominant in the sport and have amassed impressive records, including 12 Ballon d’Or awards, 1,400 club goals, and nine UEFA Champions League trophies between them.
Messi, however, holds the edge with a FIFA World Cup trophy, which he won with Argentina in late 2021, and which Ronaldo has yet to win.
The Messi-Ronaldo debate has been ongoing for over thirteen years, and there seems to be no definitive answer in sight. However, fans and celebrities alike continue to weigh in on the topic, with many holding passionate opinions on who deserves the title of the GOAT.
Drake is one of the latest celebrities to join the conversation, and his choice of Ronaldo is sure to spark reactions from fans of both players.
