Messi’s world cup hopes are still alive after Argentina beat the Netherlands on penalties.

The South Americans dumped the Europeans in a penalty shootout that witnessed heroics from Aston Villa Goalkeeper, Emi Martinez, who saved two penalties.
Before the match went to a shootout, Argentina captain Lionel Messi superbly set up Nahuel Molina for their first-half opener. He then converted a penalty kick to put his side on course to face Croatia for a place in the final.
However, the Dutch had other ideas as they battled back to level. Wout Weghorst scored a header a few minutes to the 90-minute mark, sparking his side into life and he then forced an additional thirty minutes when he scrambled the ball home with only seconds left on the clock.
