Meth-User Who Gouged Out Her Own Eyeballs Gets Prosthetics Fitted
A 22-year-old South Carolina woman who ripped out her eyeballs and smashed them in her hands is learning to live without sight and without crystal meth.
Now, Kaylee Muthart has a new set of prosthetic peepers and is ready to start anew, according to Metro UK.
“I was so excited to get them,” she said.

Muthart, whose mishap occurred in February 2018, wants the prosthetic eyeballs to help her appear “more normal” to others.
Her boyfriend, Alex George, 42, took his resilient girlfriend to Applebee’s to celebrate the Aug. 5 surgery.
The two have reportedly known each other for five years and had their first date at the casual dining joint. Muthart still can’t see, but said she applied her own make up for the big date.
“That felt very special,” she said.
Muthart is learning to read braile and plans to get her high school diploma.
She has reportedly learned how to cook and clean. She plans to get a guide dog, whom she reportedly believes she’ll be able to look after, too.
Muthart blamed the delusion that led to her blindness on hallucinations caused by a bad batch of methamphetamine.
“I thought I had to take my eyes out to survive and save the world,” she told People magazine after harming herself two and a half years ago.
The glossy mag reports that Muthart also underwent psychiatric assistance after her blinding.
An autobiography called “Kaylee’s Story” is in the works.
