Eko Hot Blog reports that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has encouraged Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli to seize their opportunities on the field when they’re given the chance to play.
Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli haven’t seen as much game time as they’d hoped for, largely due to fitness concerns and a dip in form.
Jesus has featured in only 25 out of 36 Premier League games thus far, scoring four goals and providing five assists during those appearances.
Gabriel Martinelli, the 22-year-old Brazilian left-winger, has been more frequently involved in matches compared to Jesus.
However, he feels he deserves even more playing time.
Martinelli has netted six goals and contributed four assists in 33 Premier League matches this season.
So far this season, Mikel Arteta has shown a preference for playing Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, and Bukayo Saka.
This in the attacking positions over Jesus and Martinelli, a situation that has left the Brazilian stars discontented.
Ahead of their crucial Premier League match against Manchester United at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta urged the two Brazilian forwards to channel their frustration over lack of playing time into their performance on the pitch.
“Everyone who doesn’t play everything wants to play more. But that’s my decision and what I feel at each time”, Mikel Arteta told ESPN.
“Both of them have been super important this season, and will also be these two remaining games and this is what this is about when you have the moment you have to talk on the field and you have to say it on the field.”
