Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta has been announced as the winner of Barclays Manager of the month for the month of September
After a rocky start in the league which saw Mikel Arteta record the club’s worst start in 67 years having lost the three opening matches in the month of August, the club made a significant turn around in September winning all three matches.

By securing major wins against Burnley, Norwich And North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, Mikel Arteta was able to beat fellow managers Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter and Dean Smith to the award.

Reacting to the win the Spaniard said:
“I think [this award] represents the way everyone has been together, has been working and has been positive in difficult moments and continued to do their work with the right mentality, the right ambition and with the right work and direction.
“So it’s for them. I get [the award] but it’s for all the people behind it.”

Asked about the condition of his squad, Arteta replied:
“The squad is in a really good place.
“Obviously after the window closed and we knew the squad that we had, had done a lot of the transfers and deals we wanted to do in the summer, I think we have be really happy and positive about what we have.
“The challenge now is to keep everybody on board together and fulfilling the role that each of us has to do in every moment, and through the season that is different.
“Sometimes it is a very leading and front role, and other times it is a supporting role.
“We don’t have European games and for me the key is to keep the unity of the group together and players feeling valued at all times.”
