In a series of successful operations across Nigeria, the military has apprehended two suspected terrorists on its watchlist and a known arms dealer, Shehu Bagiwaye, in Sokoto and Zamfara States, Eko Hot Blog reports.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed these developments during a press briefing on Thursday.
Alongside counterterrorism efforts, Kangye confirmed the handover of 75 rehabilitated former terrorists to the Borno State Government. Additionally, several insurgents were neutralized in recent military operations.
The military’s operations between March 10 and 20, 2025, also led to the arrest of 23 suspected oil thieves and the recovery of stolen petroleum products worth ₦461.78 million.
Security forces also confiscated 247,629 liters of stolen crude oil and 198,374 liters of illegally refined diesel (AGO), while 21 illegal refining sites were destroyed.
The military successfully confiscated various weapons, including AK-47 rifles, locally made guns, pump-action shotguns, RPG tubes, and significant rounds of ammunition.
These operations aimed to crack down on criminal activities and bolster national security.
Additionally, several crude oil cooking ovens, dugout pits, boats, storage tanks, and drums involved in illegal refining activities were discovered and dismantled.
The military’s efforts underscore its dedication to combating not only terrorism but also other illicit operations threatening Nigeria’s stability and economy.
