According to Vanguard, soldiers pulled out of the embattled community on Tuesday, May 7, after restricting entrance into the area for two months following the killing of military officers and soldiers.

Sources in neighbouring Akugbene and Okoloba communities in the Bomadi local government area told the newspaper that the soldiers suddenly left the community without any prior information.

Recall that Okuama Community grappled with a devastating conflict in March. The incident stemmed from a land dispute with a neighboring community. In an attempt to mediate the situation, the Nigerian Army intervened. Tragically, what began as a peacekeeping effort resulted in a deadly clash.

Details surrounding the encounter remain unclear. Reports indicate that on March 14th, soldiers and members of the Okuama community clashed. This confrontation resulted in the deaths of 17 military personnel and an unknown number of civilians.
