Eko hot blog reports that in Sage, a lively miniature poodle, stole the spotlight on Tuesday at the renowned Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, emerging as the “Best in Show” champion amidst stiff competition among purebred canines.

Outshining over 2,500 top-tier dogs from various breeds, Sage, a 4-year-old black miniature poodle, showcased her elegance and charm at the 148th edition of the prestigious event, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.
Competing against finalists from diverse categories like terriers, hounds, and working dogs, Sage marked a historic victory, becoming the first female to claim the top prize since 2020.
This triumph also marked the fourth time in the show’s history that a miniature poodle has secured the prestigious title.
Amidst the celebration, Sage’s handler, Kaz Hosaka, expressed his elation, shedding tears of joy as he carried his prized poodle amidst cheers from the crowd.
This victory marked the culmination of Hosaka’s 45-year journey participating in the Westminster dog show, marking a poignant end to his illustrious career.
The Westminster dog show, touted as the second-oldest sporting event in the United States, attracted contenders from 200 breeds spanning across all 50 states and 12 other countries.
Alongside Sage, Mercedes, a 4-year-old German shepherd, claimed the runner-up position after triumphing in the herding dog category.

Other finalists included Comet the Shih Tzu from the toy group, Louis the Afghan hound representing the hound group, Micah the black cocker spaniel from the sporting dogs, Monty the giant schnauzer leading the working dogs, and Frankie, a colored bull terrier from the terrier group.
