He said that the union preferred the payment of the new national minimum wage to its members before the payment of the promotion arrears to civil servants in the state.
According to him, the minimum wage would affect and benefit all workers in the state, while the payment of promotion arrears will only benefit the affected workers.
Oshafu said that the essence of the meeting was to brief members on the outcome of NLC/TUC meeting with Governor Abdullahi Sule on the payment of the national minimum wage held in August 12.
“During the meeting, Governor Abdullahi Sule agreed to pay the N70,000 new minimum wage to civil servants as approved by President Bola Tinubu.
”But NLC prefered the payment of the backlog of promotion arrears to civil servants before the payment of the new minimum wage, which the governor agreed with NLC,” he said.
