The governor spoke on Thursday while reacting to the new N70,000 minimum wage agreement.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu announced the new minimum wage earlier on Thursday after reaching an agreement with organised labour.

The president committed to a review in three years.

In a Facebook post, Sanwo-Olu said he ran into the labour leaders at the presidential villa in Abuja after they concluded discussions with the federal government.

While expressing happiness towards the solution both parties reached, he acknowledged the importance of the Lagos workforce towards the state’s growth and prosperity.

He, therefore, promised continued effort to create a thriving environment for an agile and resilient workforce.

“I ran into the leaders of Organised Labour today as they concluded their discussions with the federal government,” the Lagos governor wrote.

“I’m particularly happy to note that considerable progress has been made towards a mutually acceptable solution between the Federal Government and the Organised Labour.

“We have made it a priority to ensure that the welfare of our workforce in our dear Lagos State is the best in the country.

“We understand the economic realities on the ground and will continue to do all we can to provide a dignified standard of living for all our workers.

“The strength of our economy lies in the well-being of our workforce, and we will continue to build an agile and resilient workforce that can meet the challenges of the future.
