EKO HOT BLOG reports that Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, announced that the National Youth Skills Program (NYSP) aims to benefit over one million young Nigerians, equipping them with essential skills for the modern economy.
Speaking at the 25th Democracy Day Anniversary Youth Programme in Abuja, themed “25 Years of Enduring Democracy: Prospects for the Future,” she outlined plans to draft legislation for a 30% youth quota, reform the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), and create the National Youth Fund (NYF).
These initiatives are part of efforts to empower Nigerian youth and foster national development through structured legislative and institutional reforms.
According to a statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Omolara Esan, the minister said: “These legislative actions will solidify the Federal Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and ensure sustainable development.”
She said the restructured Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) will commence its call for entries by June 30, 2024, adding that the ministry has already streamlined the process to ensure more young entrepreneurs can access the funds they need to innovate and create jobs.
