Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has expressed sadness over the death of popular Nollywood actor Sisi Quadri.
In a statement on Saturday, the minister mourned the passing of the 44-year-old comedian known for his role in “Seniyan Seranko.”
“I learnt a movie, titled ‘Anukulapo: The Return of Spectre,’ in which Sisi Quadri played a spectacular role was released on Netflix on Friday and is already making waves. His death at this time when he should be reaping the fruits of his labour is untimely and saddening,” Musawa said.
She offered condolences to Quadri’s family and prayed for the repose of his soul. The cause of death for the Yoruba actor, who passed away suddenly on Friday after a brief illness, is still unknown.
Quadri had just appeared in the new Netflix film “Anukulapo” before his sudden passing. The Iwo, Osun State native was renowned for bringing laughter to audiences through his comedic performances.
“You will be greatly missed, Sisi Quadri. May your soul rest in perfect peace,” wrote actress Abiola Bayo, who announced his death on Instagram. At only 44 years old, Quadri’s death came just as he was poised to captivate fans in the newly released “Anukulapo.”
