It was a mixed grill of thanksgiving, reflections and gaiety as family and friends of Dr Olasunkanmi Adeyinka gathered to usher the distinguished medical practitioner into the sexagenarian class.
The birthday fete held at the Masjid Mumineen reception hall on July 2nd, 2021, and played host to dignitaries drawn across different chapters of Eko Club International in the United States.
It was an episode to not just engage in festivities and merriment to mark a significantly momentous occasion, but to also give thanks for God’s unceasing and abundant grace.
The event, anchored by Marshall Sulayman, kicked off with the introduction of the spiritual leaders of the occasion, which was quickly followed by the arrival of the celebrant in the most resplendent fashion.
After the introduction of the celebrant’s family, Bukky Shoaga, the celebrant’s daughter, performed the honour of introducing her mother. She thereafter took the gathering through a synopsis of Dr Adeyinka’s life, sojourn and accomplishments.
The event also featured a special lecture, cutting of the birthday cake, music, dance; and, to cap it all, an assortment of scrumptious delicacies.

The Thanksgiving session at the Masjid Mumuneen was followed by a reception party at her Texas residence. Once again, her family and friends were on hand to climax the celebration of the grand occasion.
In her remarks, the celebrant appreciated God, family, friends, acquaintances and associates for their variegated roles in helping her become the person she is. She recounted her early years in the United States; the struggles, burning the midnight oil in the library, as well as the pulsating interview sessions she had before gradually integrating into mainstream medical practice.
The celebrant also exhorted the gathering to plunge beyond the conviviality of the celebrations, but to also introspectively appreciate the urgency of transmitting love to one another and promoting the cause of altruism to trigger the society we all crave to live in.
There was no shortage of tributes and special supplications by family and friends of the celebrant who appreciated Dr Adeyinka’s immense contributions in various capacities and prayed for many more years of accomplishments and gratification.
Describing the person of Dr Adeyinka, Mr Afis Babajide extolled the solicitous and unassuming character of the celebrant and her drive to help the cause of humanity not only as a medical practitioner, but as a human being.
Publisher of Eko Hot Blog, Otunba TJ Abass, commenting on the celebrant’s persona was lost for words in describing Dr Adeyinka’s altruistic inclination. According to him, despite having ascended enviable heights in her life’s endeavours, her dedication and commitment to helping others has remained unfaltering.
Mrs Idiat Babajide was also full of eulogy for the celebrant, whom she described as a model humanitarian.
Mrs Eniola Animashaun, Mr Bimbo Animashaun, as well as Mr Sowemimo also gave testaments of Dr Adeyinka’s magnanimity, an intrinsic quality that has typified her three score years on earth.
