Missile Attack from Yemen Sparks Alert in Central Israel

A surface-to-surface missile was fired from Yemen hit a desolate area in central Israel on Sunday, causing no casualties but sparking widespread alarm.

The attack triggered air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and beyond, prompting residents to scramble for safety.

According to the military, the missile crossed into central Israel from the east and landed in an unpopulated area.

“Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in central Israel, a surface-to-surface missile was identified… and fell in an open area. No injuries were reported,” they stated.

The incident was accompanied by loud booms, which the military attributed to missile interceptors launched in response.

Despite the commotion, the military emphasized that its protective guidelines for Israel’s residents remained unchanged.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke billowing in an open field in central Israel, possibly due to the missile or debris from an interceptor.

This incident marks the latest escalation in tensions between Israel and Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis.

In July, a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv resulted in one fatality and four injuries, prompting Israel to launch a significant airstrike on Houthi military targets near Yemen’s Hodeidah port.

The retaliatory strike killed at least three people and wounded 87 others.

As the region remains on high alert, the latest missile strike from Yemen serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security concerns and the potential for further escalation.
