British Tourist Found Dead In Ibiza

The body of missing British tourist Johny Doherty has been found this morning.

It was recovered by police divers after a local spotted it floating in a bay west of cliffs at Cap Martinet in Ibiza, close to the villa where he vanished from early on Monday morning.

Well-placed sources said Johny’s dad, who had travelled to the island to help in the search, has confirmed it was him.

An autopsy will now take place to try to determine the cause of death.

Investigators said there was nothing at this stage pointing to it being suspicious but they would know more after the post-mortem.

The grim find is believed to have occurred around 9.30am this morning.

A source involved in the search operation, which had been ramped up to become a major sea, land and air search involving sniffer dogs, police divers and a Civil Guard helicopter, said: “Civil Guard divers recovered the body after it was spotted in the sea by a private individual.

“The body has been taken ashore and will be transferred to the island’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem.

“The man’s dad has confirmed it is Johny’s body.
