Jibrin, who is also the Sarkin Fulani Nasarawa, said cattle rearing has been in Africa for over 100 years without any consideration to the free movement of cattle (open grazing) or any grazing reserve.

He added that open grazing was allowed at that time because there were few herders and farmers in Nigeria.

Jibrin further stressed that currently, the population had increased with the modern technique of farming consuming land vastly.

It would be recalled that the governors of the Southern part of Nigeria had issued the ban on open grazing after a meeting in Asaba, the Delta State capital, as part of efforts to curb insecurity in the region.
