The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC), on Saturday, said denial by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria of its threat to attack Southeast over non-provision grazing land was a tactic to get back to the people ‘unawares’ and ‘unprepared’.
The Zonal Chairman, Miyetti Allah, Southeast, Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, denied a report that they would attack the zone but OYC insisted such denial could not be trusted.
President of OYC, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, in a statement, in Abakaliki, called on communities to be vigilante and resist further attack on them by the herdsmen, saying: “We will not fold our arms and allow evil to thrive by these herdsmen.”
He called for establishment of vigilance groups to prevent further herdsmen attack, saying: “We have not forgotten raping of women in their farms in Ebonyi State, invasion in Enugu and in Abia, where herdsmen chopped off a lady’s hand among others.”
