MOCOSA ’69/’73: Wole Kukoyi Reflects On 50 Years Since Graduation, Seeks More Frequent Reunions

Eko Hot Blog reports that Dr. Wole Kukoyi, the Global Chairman of MOCOSA, has reflected on their school days and beyond, advocating for more frequent reunions.
He spoke during the gala night of the 50th anniversary celebration of the MOCOSA set of 1969/1973 on Saturday, November 26.
Dr. Kukoyi took center stage to share a nostalgic journey since their graduation in 1973.
Reminiscing, he recounted, “We are celebrating 50 years of leaving Molusi College. I remembered vividly the very first day we left Molusi College. That was June 19, 1973. We spent four and a half years in the college instead of five. I remembered our set was the first official set to have women.”
Dr. Kukoyi went on to describe the challenges they faced, including being punished for misdemeanor before collecting their WAEC results and also highlighted the transient nature of relationships, he noted,
“We endured punishments for misdemeanors before collecting our WAEC results. And it’s a known norm that twenty children can’t play together for twenty years, reason we initiated the old student association, rotating our meeting points between Lagos, Ijebu, Ibadan, and later adding Ota,” he said.

Acknowledging active members from different zones, the old student of Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, also touched upon the pivotal role of WhatsApp in rekindling connections.
“I acknowledge the active members from different zones. The invention of WhatsApp, initiated by Mrs. Doja, brought the group together after a long time. Despite a low turnout, people’s interest was resuscitated, fostering renewed connections,” he said.
Dr. Kukoyi shared, “There’s nothing like coming together like this. You can imagine the kind of joy and excitement since yesterday that we came together; that’s what we’ll continue to do and that’s what will continue to prolong our lives.”
He passionately advocated for more frequent reunions, saying, “Some suggested that instead of waiting for five years for this kind of reunion, we should make it annually, and I think I agree with that. So let us come together more often, so that we can always enjoy the company of one another.”
Dr. Kukoyi’s sentiments resonate with the crowd who applauded his call for increased unity and more regular gatherings.
As the 50th anniversary celebration unfolded, the idea of more frequent reunions gained traction, promising continued camaraderie among the Molusi College alumni.
