MOCPED Holds 2020/2021 Matriculation Exercise in Style

Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Odo-Noforija, Epe Division, Lagos State, has held its 2020/2021 matriculation ceremony for Full time and Part-Time students.

Ekohotblog reports that the ceremony took place on Wednesday, 9th May 2021 at the College Multi-Purpose hall.

MOCPED is the first College of Primary Education in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa,

The ceremony was flagged off by the Provost, Associate Professor Nosiru Onibon, having led the academic procession comprising all academic members of staff of the College to the hall.

The Registrar, Mrs George Abiodun led the matriculating students to take the oath and thereafter sign the matriculation register. Having being presented to the Provost by the School Deans, the excited students swore to uphold the rules and regulations as enshrined in the college constitution.

In his address, the College Provost, Associate Professor Nosiru Onibon, while welcoming those present at the gathering, expressed delight at the official entry of the fresh students. He restated the objective of establishing the prestigious citadel of learning which is to train teachers for the basic and lower secondary schools.

While congratulating family members and friends of the participating students, Onibon enjoined them to support the young career prospects in every means possible to attain success.

He intimated the matriculants on the abundance of state of the art facilities which includes the adequately equipped College Health Center, the well-stocked College Library and the modern College ICT centre that facilitated virtual lecture delivery during the COVID pandemic lock down. he also boasted of an array of qualified, competent and dedicated members of staff in her arsenal who work round the clock to meet the students’ needs.

Speaking further, Professor Onibon was thankful for the unalloyed support of both the Lagos State and Federal Government of Nigeria through TETFUND in the provision of infrastructural facilities.

He thereafter enjoined the matriculants to avoid distractions in form of cultism, examination malpractice drug addiction and any fraudulent act.

Bearing in mind that the students on bond must ensure that the relevant papers are passed before the end of their program, he advised that they monitor their results, be punctual at lectures, attend tutorials, complete continuous assessments and sit for examinations.

“NCE is a good beginning; it is a good foundation for those who cherish quality education. It offers a good opportunity for you to ride to the top of your academic career. Do not look down on yourself being in a College of Education. Whatever route you take, you and your counterparts shall meet at the top,” he stated.

In attendance at the colourful academic event were Principal Officers of the College which includes the Provost, Ass. Professor Nosiru Onibon, the Deputy Provost, Dr Maruf Shittu, the Registrar, Mrs George Abiodun Omorionla, the College Librarian, Dr Imam Abayomi and the Bursar, Mr Bolukale Olutobi.

Deans of Schools such as Dr Adebayo AA, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Miss Famuyiwa FR, Dean School of Education, Mr Bakare OB, Dean School of Languages, Mrs Fabinu FA, Ag. Dean, School of Early Childhood Care and Primary Education, Mr Saseyi OO, Dean, School of Sciences, Dr Adebosin WG, Dean, School of Vocation, and Mr Ayanlaja AO, Dean, Student Affairs were also present.

The ceremony was declared closed by the Provost with the sonorous rendition of the National and College anthem. The Provost’s procession thereafter left the hall in reverse order.
