A statement from Aloba’s family urges authorities to invite Omomunmi Adebanjo to share insights into the tragic event, emphasizing the importance of her cooperation.

The family believes Omomunmi’s testimony could play a crucial role in revealing the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise, as investigations continue.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has called on the police to question Mohbad’s wife, Omomunmi Adebanjo, about the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Aloba’s family said “It has come to our attention that Omomunmi Adebanjo, the wife of the late Mohbad, has expressed her knowledge of critical information related to his death. We urge the relevant authorities to extend an invitation to Omowunmi Adebanjo to provide her testimony and insights into this tragic event.”
The statement added, “We believe that her cooperation and testimony could be instrumental in shedding light on the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s demise.”
Aloba said Omomunmi’s testimony is needed ahead of another coroner’s inquest hearing scheduled in the coming days. “The opportunity is still there for you to go and tell them the truth you know,” he stated.
27-year-old Mohbad died on September 12 under disputed circumstances. His death sparked controversies on social media and led to the arrest of several individuals including fellow musician Naira Marley.
The Lagos State Police Command has been investigating the death but has not yet released the autopsy report. Aloba said in November that nobody should collect his son’s body for burial without his authorization.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin reiterated in December that the autopsy report had still not been received. Hundeyin previously said the police were “awaiting result” after Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy in September.
