N14 Million Monthly Earnings Insufficient For A Senator – Orji Kalu

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Kalu clarified that the N14 million he receives each month covers all his responsibilities and expenses, including overhead costs, staff salaries, and the maintenance of his constituency office.
“I earn N14 million for everything in a month. That is everything encompassing — the overhead, the workers’ salary, everybody,” he explained.
The former governor of Abia State further argued that the amount is insufficient to meet all the demands of his role, particularly when it comes to travel and managing his constituency obligations.
He highlighted the financial strain of regularly visiting his constituency and maintaining his office.
Responding to the widespread belief that lawmakers are provided with luxury vehicles, Kalu debunked the claim, stating that no Senator is given a personal vehicle.
He explained that vehicles are only provided to committees within the National Assembly for official use.
“I am in the Senate, and a lot of things are said about Senators. I sit there quietly and watch, and most of these things are not true. All I know is that committees get vehicles; no lawmaker is given any vehicle,” Kalu clarified.
