Moradeun Balogun Purple Elephant Foundation Gets Off To A Flyer In Lagos
Friends and family of late Moradeun Balogun have rallied support to flag off the Purple Elephant Foundation launched to ensure adequate first aid support for victims of gunshot and stab injuries.
The launch, which held at Eko FM Multipurpose Hall, Ikeja on December 2nd, 2020 played host to notable dignitaries across Lagos State which included Hon. Wale Raji, member, House of Representatives (representng Epe Federal Constituency), Mrs. Adekola Kolawole, President, Red Cross Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Mr. Victor Afolabi, Managing Director, Eko Innovation Centre and also Professor Abiola Lanre Awosika, President/CEO Oasis Education.
Speaking during her welcome address, visioneer of the Purple Elephant Foundation, Mrs. Opeoluwa Balogun noted that the fundamental goal of the foundation is to ensure that the tragic incident which led to the avoidable loss of a woman in her prime on December 2nd, 2019 does not repeat itself.
To this end, the Moradeun Balogun Purple Elephant Foundation was set up to, amongst other objectives, support emergency victims from stab injuries, accidents, gunshot injuries or any other fatal accident, who are unable to pay their medical treatment bill.
The basic inspiration behind the foundation is borne out of the gross ineptitude of our healthcare system, which has led to loss of countless lives owing to unrealistic protocols like police reports and other systemic bureaucracies unnecessary at critical moments which require urgent medical attention.

The foundation is therefore a bold step aimed towards recognising the fierce urgency of ‘now’ with regard to emergency health situations.
Highlights of the event included tributes by family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances of late Moradeun Balogun, health and safety presentation by TNN Emergency Services as well as a virtual felicitation message from Professor Akin Abayomi, Lagos State Commissioner for Health.
In what turned out to be an overwhelming exhibition of commitment for this humanitarian cause, friends, family as well as other committed individuals rallied together to pitch in financial resources in the form of donations and pledges to get the foundation off the mark towards fulfiling it’s unyielding desire to promote the cause of humanity.
The foundation launch is merely the first step towards ensuring the provision of ample support for victims in urgent need of first aid treatment. From a futuristic perspective, concerted efforts from individuals and corporate organisations is expected to consolidate efforts towards setting this noble cause on a productive course.
