FG Receives 31 More Nigerian Evacuees From Ukraine

  • More than 5,000 Nigerians, the majority of whom are students studying in Ukraine have been caught up in the Russia-Ukraine war

  • With the latest batch of returnees, a total of 1,531 Nigerians have now been evacuated back to the country

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Federal Government has received another set of Nigerians from Ukraine numbering 31.

According to the Nigeria in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), they were evacuated through Romania aboard Turkish Airlines.

The flight landed at about 06:30a.m on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikwe Int’l Airport Abuja.

With the latest batch of returnees, a total of 1,531 Nigerians have now been evacuated back to the country.

The seventh batch of Nigerian evacuees from Ukraine arrived Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

They arrived aboard a Turkish airline which airlifted them from Romania where they had fled for safety.

Hundreds of people have been killed in Ukraine since Russia invaded the country while over two million people have been displaced. Two Ukrainian mayors have been abducted by invading Russian forces, bringing strong condemnation from the European Union.
