The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Agege branch B, has accused the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, of meddling in the affairs of the Union.
Branch Treasurer, Agege Branch B, and Unit Chairman, Pero/Otubu of NURTW, Alhaji Kamorudeen Balogun, said that Obasa is working to impose people on the Union, a move he said would breach the peace in the local government.
Balogun, however, appealed to Obasa to let the union members pick its leaders in Agege Branch B.
“I am appealing to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, to stop the imposition of Union leaders, especially in Agege.

“For over 40 years, we have enjoyed relative peace within Agege union members and we would not want this peace to be disrupted by the activities of the Speaker.
“We enjoin Obasa to focus on his role as the Speaker and let the Union also focus on its task. Agege Union of the NURTW is not the right place for him to play his politics,” he said.
Balogun called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, to intervene in the matter.
The Financial Secretary, Sunmonu unit, Agege Branch B, Babajide Sholu urged Obasa to allow the rightful person head the unit.
“In life, everything is turn by turn. Agege Union is peaceful and we do not want anyone to disrupt that peace.
“Kamorudeen Balogun has paid his dues. He is the one we want, and Obasa should allow us our wish,” he said.
The Chairman, Isheri Garage, Semiu Aliu, shared the same sentiment with the leadership of the Union.
According to him, nobody is telling Obasa what to do as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and he should also not tell the Union what to do.
