Mrs Ezinne Kolawole Daniels: Long Walk to Motherhood

Motherhood is a bouquet of emotions where the loud rings of laughter mingle with the joyous tears of fulfillment.

Motherhood is a treasure chest where infantile giggles fill up the day, and shrieks from the cradle punctuate the night.

Motherhood is a journey every woman wants to start but never wants to end. Motherhood is a masterpiece only fully understood by those who embark on this maternal pilgrimage.

Amidst the varied societal viewpoints, the concept of motherhood is usually perceived from the prevailing norms and cultural echoes. What is not debatable, however, is the universality of the centre stage a woman takes in procreation and multiplication of the human race.

A woman is not a full-blown moon until she has taken the baton of creation from God and given life to another human.

In the traditional worldview, fertility, and motherhood are two sides of a coin, and the god of fertility is the gatekeeper to motherhood, admitting in and locking out whomever he so pleases.

Revolutionary medical practices have however revealed that some feminine frames are designed to yield the call to motherhood in a rather unconventional way.

For such women, technology-infused conception methods are the surest pathways as they traverse treacherous terrain in pursuit of the euphoria of motherhood. As a matter of fact, some women consider no price too steep to pay for the joys of motherhood.

The story of Mr. and Mrs. Kolawole Daniels, a US-based couple with 17 years of marriage, is a story of resilience, determination, unalloyed faith, and a total encapsulation of the ordeals, travails, and long arduous journey to motherhood.

On Sunday, May 20th, in the Exquisite Erith Apartments, at the heart of Opebi Lagos, it was a time for celebration and thanksgiving reception for God’s benevolence in their lives, as God has finally crowned their 17 years of waiting, endurance, and unshakable faith with a set of twins, Ariel Kola Daniel and Arianna Ezinne Olamide Daniel.

It was a moment of pride for Mr. and Mrs. Kolawole Daniels as friends, guests, and family members were on hand to share in such an epic moment.

In an exclusive interview with Eko Hot Blog, Mrs. Kolawole Daniel gave a vivid account of the journey of the past 17 years, the emotional and psychological rollercoaster.

She recounted her journey to motherhood with its twist and turns, dashed hope, and several botched attempts, even in the United States of America with all the medical sophistication and marvel, before finally getting the reprieve, the stamp of approval to motherhood in the least expected place, Lagos, Nigeria.

“The joy of motherhood, being availed with the opportunity to nurture and carrying your own child, twins for that matter, is an experience you must undergo to understand my joy,” the joyful Mrs. Daniels averred in an interview with Eko Hot Blog.

Radiant beams of joy were stamped on Mr. and Mrs. Kolawole as friends and well-wishers gathered to share such an epic moment, deservedly so; two bundles of joy added to the family.

Excerpts of Mrs. Ezinne Kolawole Daniel’s Interview With Eko Hot Blog

Eko Hot Blog: Good afternoon, Ma’am. My name is Samiat from Eko Hot Blog.

Kindly introduce yourself to us.

Mrs. Kolawole Daniel: My name is Mrs. Ezinne Daniel, and my husband is Honourable Kolawole Daniel. We live in Maryland, USA.

Eko Hot Blog: Congratulations on the addition of the new bundles of joy to your family; what were the experiences before their birth and the changes their birth has brought?

Mrs. Kolawole Daniel:

My dear, motherhood is an experience you need to go through yourself to explain it better.

We had tried several methods to conceive for 15 years in the United States of America, and nothing worked; little did we know that it was going to be possible in Nigeria.

Since I had them, I have lost sleep, not because I have insomnia but because I am too happy and wonder if these cute babies are from me, as I am yet to believe it is real.

“I can’t even express how I feel and the kind of joy they have brought to my home; now, I look younger than ever, and my husband is looking all bubbly.

Their birth has opened many doors, and we are delighted to be their parents.

How did you get through the trying period?

Mrs. Kolawole Daniel:
My husband is my best friend. He means the whole world to me, he is caring and genuine, and he corrects things immediately.

He does not hold grudges. My husband has been supportive. He has been there for me through the trying time. I love him so much, and he is my soulmate.

My family members and my friends have been supportive too. My Cousins, nieces, and nephews would call me on Mother’s Day and send gifts and words of encouragement. My stepchildren, too, love me so much, and they always visit me. I am happy we are united, and the love is real.

Eko Hot Blog: Having tried to conceive for 15 years, what word of encouragement do you have for women out there who are trying to conceive too?

Mrs. Kolawole Daniel: Honestly, this experience and what God has done is a new message. Isaiah 46:8-11 says, “There shall be no barren in the land.” When God said that, it does not mean barrenness is when you cannot conceive the natural way, conception can come in so many ways, but Africans think surrogacy is not a good thing.

There are lots of ladies at the age of 25-30 who are trying to conceive. My advice to young women, married or unmarried, is that they should harvest their eggs as soon as they clock 25 and keep them for embryo vitrification because if I had not done that in 2008, I wouldn’t have had my babies now.

While we were trying IVF and other methods, I was advised to keep my embryo. Then in 2022, my friend called me and told me I could transport it to Nigeria and Opt for surrogacy.

We did that, and within a short period, the result came in positive.

So, I will advise women out there to store their embryos, it does not expire, and they will be there until you need them because you don’t know what will happen in the future.

The world is advanced now. There are many egg donors out there, everything is possible, and it is an affirmation of the biblical words that there shall be no barren in the land. It started with Abraham and Sarah. When they were trying to conceive, God used Hagar as their egg donor, but because the child Hagar conceived was not the promised child, Sarah still conceived of Isaac.

The waiting period took a lot of patience. I prayed every time to God, I never questioned God, and I did not cry. Instead, I was always praying vehemently, and my husband has been there for me, always assuring me of his love for me regardless of the situation.

My Advice to trying-to-conceive mothers is not to give up; it is not over. And when the time is right, God will make it happen. I am in my late 50s, and here I am with my bundles of joy after 15 years.

A friend has named them Goodness and Mercy, and I liked the names because Goodness and Mercy shall follow me everywhere every day of my life.

Eko Hot Blog: Congratulations once again, Ma, and thank you for your time.

Mrs. Kolawole Daniel: You are welcome.

It was indeed a thanksgiving reception and testimony to the manifestation of God’s grace and blessing in the life of the Daniels.

Melodies of celebration flowed through the air, crafted by the masterful hands of the DJ, while delectable delicacies danced upon eager taste buds.

Mrs. Daniel graced each table with her presence, sharing heartfelt pleasantries and cradling the twins in her arms, excitedly telling the tales of her sojourn into motherhood after 17 years.

Hearty cheers to the Kolawole Daniels!
