At 14, Adeola Ifeoluwa is already living his dream. For a day, he worked in the capacity of the Chief Executive Officer of a network giant, MTN, after winning a spelling bee competition.
On Thursday, December 5, the Kid-CEO was the darling of everyone at the MTN Ikoyi headquarters, Lagos. He was spotted with top personalities like Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande and singer Praiz.
Oba Akiolu encouraged him on his path and educated him on Yoruba history.
He also had an intimate discussion with the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji, who later advised him to strive to be a real CEO in a few years.
This opportunity came for Ifeoluwa when in July, MTN announced that it was partnering with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) through its mPulse to organise a spelling bee. The partnership is targeted at Lagos Secondary School Students between the ages of 9 and 15.
For the spelling bee competition, apart from the overall winner replacing MTN Nigeria CEO, Mazen Mrou, for a day, gifts and prizes were also given to runner-ups.
