MTN has shut all its stores and service centres in Nigeria following subscriber outrage and vandalism due to lines being barred over NIN and SIM registration mismatches.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Telecoms giant MTN has shut all its stores and service centres across Nigeria following an uproar from subscribers after the network provider barred their lines on Sunday.
This barring resulted from a mismatch in their National Identification Number (NIN) and SIM registration.

On Monday, a viral video on social media depicted a mob destroying a barricade fence outside an MTN office. The footage showed a large crowd of angry subscribers vandalising the telecommunications company’s office in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State in response to the network blocking subscribers.
However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, responded to the circulated video on X.com, stating that the DPO of FESTAC and his men had successfully restored normalcy and peace at the scene.

Reacting on Tuesday, MTN said it would be shutting its shops nationwide today.
