Black Monday in Epe: Fatal Accidents Claim Lives at Ayetoro Market

Epe was thrown into mourning on Monday morning after two separate accidents at Ayetoro Market left many dead and several others injured.

The first accident involved a Dangote truck carrying cement that lost control while coming down Paramount Hill via Ita-Opo.

The truck crashed into a shopping complex in the market, killing several people instantly.

Many others were trapped under the truck. Emergency services quickly arrived to help rescue those trapped.

Just few moments after the Dangote truck accident, a private car coming down from Oke-Shade lost control and hit pedestrians and tricyclist at Ayetoro Market, killing two people instantly.

Eyewitness Mr. Shakiru recalled, “The car came speeding down the hill and crashed into people and tricycle going on their own.

It was a terrible sight. The victims didn’t have a chance.”

Com. Moibi Ibrahim, the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), and Hon. Moruf Olumuyiwa Odunaare a youth Parliament leader, visited the accident scenes to express their sympathy to the families of the victims.

“This is a sad day for Epe, and our hearts are with the victims and their families,” said Com. Moibi Ibrahim.
