Musibau Sumonu Installed As Ilagbe of Egbaland As Wife Gets Faderera of Egbaland Title

Eko Hot Blog reports that Chief Musibau Olatunji Sumonu has been installed as the Ilagbe of Egbaland and Lisa of Ake, while his wife, Chief Mrs. Iyabode Sumonu has been honoured with the chieftaincy title of Faderera of Egbaland.

Before these honours, Chief Sumonu was the Oluomo of Ake township, Otunbaade Aje Egba, and the Seriki Musulumi of Ake, while his wife was the Erelu Oluomo of Ake Township and the Erelu Otunbaade Aje Egba.

The couple added to their preexisting chieftaincy titles at the Egbaland chieftaincy conferment ceremony which held at the majestic Ake Palace, Egbaland, Ogun State, last Friday.

The Alake of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Aremu Gbadebo, performed the installation rites on the Sumonus and other chieftaincy title recipients.

The chiefs were called forth one after the other and duly sworn into their respective titles.

Mr and Mrs Sumonu, elegantly adorned with traditional beads, embellished hats, and symbolic staff, joined other honourees to take their oaths of office amidst a shower of prayers.

The atmosphere in the hall was charged with an air of reverence and anticipation as the Alake blessed them in the name of God, adorning them with the esteemed chieftaincy beads—a symbol of honour and prestige.

The ceremony continued with a grand reception held at the Sumonu residence, where there was music, dance, and feasting.

Distinguished guests, including the former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, other Obas, chiefs, and dignitaries from both within and outside Nigeria graced the occasion, adding to the celebratory spirit.

Chief Olatunji Sumonu, born on October 16th, 1956, into a prominent family in Abeokuta, is a loving father, devoted husband, accomplished businessman, and philanthropist.

As the CEO of various enterprises such as Supreme Nursing Services, Supreme Oil and Gas, and Supreme Foods and Entertainment Limited, he showcases his astute business acumen.

Additionally, the Ilagbe of Egbaland serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Supreme Global Resources, an engineering construction company, and holds directorship in MSI Globa9l Concepts Limited and Liquid Air Equipment Nigeria Limited.

Notably, Chief Sumonu is actively involved in philanthropic endeavours,, supporting the Egba Progressive Association, Inc. in Houston and engaging in numerous community upliftment projects in Abeokuta.

The Lisa of Ake’s contributions range from providing hospital beds, equipment, and scholarships to Egba children, to personally donating essential products to various institutions.

Furthermore, he is a proud past President of the Egba Economics Summit and a member of the esteemed Abeokuta Club, displaying his commitment to sustainable economic development and community advancement.

On the other hand, Chief Mrs. Iyabode Sumonu, who hails from a distinguished lineage as the granddaughter of Late Oba Fasasi Oduntan, carries a rich heritage.

She pursued her primary and secondary education in Nigeria before venturing to the United States, where she achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a university based in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Faderera of Egbaland’s professional journey commenced as a registered nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, gaining expertise in critical care and medical surgical departments.

Upon relocating to Houston, Texas, Chief Mrs Sumonu assumed administrative roles across hospitals, nursing facilities, and home health agencies.

Presently, she holds the esteemed position of administrator at Supreme Nursing Service home health, one of the largest home health companies in Houston, Texas.
