Weeks, after he was paraded along with nine suspected internet fraudsters by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), an Abuja-based music producer, has threatened to sue the anti-graft agency.
The producer, Nasiru Ali, was arrested when EFCC officials raided suspects’ residence at Favour Land Estate, Life Camp in Abuja.
According to the EFCC, they were arrested following a tip-off by an anonymous source, with suspects to be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
However, Ali, better known as Kozzographa, in a petition to the EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu late May, is demanding N100 million compensation and unreserved apology for arresting him wrongly.
He also accused the agency of giving libelous information to the public about him through his lawyer, Mr. Pelumi Olajengbensi, insisting he would drag the EFCC to court if the negative publications about him are not retracted at the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum.
“He lost a contract of five million naira with United Global Resolve for Peace (UNGREP), which he had been interviewed for a hitherto offered unequivocally because the contractors became disturbed and concerned by the publication thus doubtful of his reputation,” his lawyer said.
Apart from being ostracised by colleagues and associates, the lawyer said his relationship with his partner has also become damaged and health affected as he keeps losing jobs.
