My Account Was Hacked — Akon On Attacking Elon Musk
-
Akon releases statement denying calling out Twitter CEO, Elon Musk for charging people for the blue verification bages.
-
According to Akon, the statement attributed to him was a result of his Twitter account being hacked.
-
The initial tweet had quoted ‘Akon’ saying, “Back in the day, Twitter was begging musicians to stay on cause they don’t have traffic,” which the musician openly denies.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Senegalese-American singer, Akon, has denied calling out Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, for charging people for the micro-blogging site’s blue verification badges.
Akon had previously accused Musk of “forcing” people to pay for the new Twitter blue subscription, which was created to protect accounts from fake ones. The singer stated that he would not pay for the new subscription.

A tweet from Akon’s verified Twitter account read, “Back in the day, Twitter was begging musicians to stay on cause they don’t have traffic. They came up with a verification process to protect accounts from fake ones, now @elonmusk is taking that away and forcing us to pay- FYI, I’m not paying shit for something we helped build.” However, the tweet has since been deleted.
In a new tweet posted on Tuesday, Akon denied making the remarks and claimed that his account was hacked. He wrote, “My account was just hacked. This tweet didn’t come from me. Whoever hacked my account, please keep your personal opinions away from my profile respectfully.”
