My Body, My Choice – Tiwa Savage Defends Her Right to Wear Bikinis
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the singer revealed that she often endures backlash from Nigerians who question her outfit selections, citing her age as a factor.
Drawing comparisons, Savage expressed dismay at the double standard, noting how international stars like Beyoncé, also in her 40s, are celebrated for their timeless beauty when wearing revealing outfits. In contrast, Savage is subjected to age-shaming by Nigerians for similar fashion choices.

She explained that critics often invoke her role as a mother, suggesting her son might feel embarrassed by her bold photos as he grows older.
“They age-shame me every single day,” Savage lamented. “They say, ‘A woman of your age, how can you wear a bikini?’ I can because I have a body.

Beyoncé is in her 40s and wears bikinis, but Americans don’t age-shame her. Instead, they celebrate her beauty, saying, ‘Black don’t crack.’ It’s admired when you look good as you age.”
However, Savage shared that Nigerian critics take a different stance, frequently linking her choices to her son. “They always say things like, ‘When her son grows up, he’s going to see this.’ But I believe my son will see me as a powerful and beautiful woman,” she asserted.
