Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, Ajagbusi VI, Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa Kingdom, has doubled down on his resolve to revamp the socio-economic landscape of Iloko-Ijesa.
Oba Akeem was speaking in an interview with Eko Hot Blog on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at a reception dinner held at his private residence after his coronation as the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa.
The official coronation brought to bed years of suspense and anticipation which trailed the ratification of the new Oba almost ten years after the demise of his immediate-past predecessor, Oba Oladele Olashore who died of a heart attack at the age of 77.
Following his confirmation by the Osun State Executive Council on 19th of April, 2021, the annals of Iloko-Ijesa once again recorded monumental history on July 24 as Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola issued the staff and certificate of office to Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, Ajagbusi VI, confirming him as the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa Kingdom.
The coronation, which held at the Osowusi Muslim Commercial High School, Iloko-Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, played host to first class dignitaries drawn across the political and traditional landscape of Osun State including the state Governor and former Governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, as well as the supreme monarch of all of Yoruba land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife.
In this interview, the new monarch, who had kicked off his reign on May 5th, 2021, while acknowledging the daunting challenges ahead, pledged to work tirelessly and assiduously to revamp the socio-economic space of the community.

“I am happy and extremely elated. You can see the calibre of people that came for the event, that tells you the kind of person I am, that tells you the calibre of people that will support me.”
“My plan for my town is to rejuvenate the socio-economic situation of the town. You know, when there is no identifiable leader in a community for about nine years, so many things will go wrong. So I want to go back to the basics and then look at those things that we should have done that we have not done, also those things that were done before that requires rejuvenation,” he said.
Oba Akeem, who also noted that he has designed a blueprint which he hopes will effectively direct his reign, said that he would be holding series of meetings with his council of chiefs in the coming weeks in a bid to harmonize his blueprint with the egg-heads of the community.
Indeed, the future looks auspicious for the people of Iloko-Ijesa following the official installation of an illustrious son whose leadership qualities has been felt in the community long before his ascension to the throne. As he braces up for what will undoubtedly be an eventful and challenging journey, Eko Hot Blog wishes up Godspeed in his quest to re-write history and etch his name on the sands of time.
