THIRTY-ONE years old driver, Abba Zamzam, who stole a Toyota Highlander Sport Utility Vehicle, belonging to his Indian boss and sold it for N500,000, is saying his boss, Kamal, has been appearing and beating him in his dreams.
Zamzam, arrested recently by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team(IRT), who trailed him to Maiduguri, Borno State, where he fled after absconding with his boss’ SUV, said: “Whenever I am sleeping, the Indian was always tormenting me after which I will start convulsing. I have been urinating blood for the past seven days.
“Please, help me beg the Indian man to leave me alone. I have helped the Police to recover his vehicle but the man is still tormenting me. He has made my manhood to stop working. I am begging him to leave me alone because I have returned his vehicle to him.”
The suspect disclosed that he stole the SUV because he refused to grant him salary advance, adding: “I got the job last year and I earn N45,000 and my job is to drive the manager of the company from Surulere to the factory in Sagamu.
“Sometime in July 2018, before I left for work, I reside at Agidingbi. My wife informed me that my child had no food and I told her that I have no money but begged her to look for where to borrow money that when I return from work I will pay the debt.”
He added that he also got a call from his village that his mother was sick the same day, which made him to approach the boss for salary advance, but the boss instead threatened to sack him for daring to make such request.
He said: “When I got to work, I called him and told him what was happening to me that I have no money to feed my family and I needed some money to send to my mother.
“I told him to give me the money out of my salary because I have worked for 24 days in that month; he refused and threatened to sack me for asking for my salary before the end of the month.
“Then I took the car and went to a beer parlour, I have never taken alcohol before, but because of what he told me I went and bought a bottle of beer, and I made up my mind to sell the car.
“I took it to Victoria Island and sold the car for N1.2 million but the person who bought it gave me part payment and ran away with the vehicle.
“Then I took the money quickly to my village but on our way Boko Haram attacked us and took the money. My mother was at IDPs camp.
“Whenever I am sleeping, the Indian is always tormenting me. He would appear in my dream to torment me and after which I will start convulsing.”
